Ovaltine’s most recent TVC has returned, after several months of hibernation. The TVC began reappearing on national TV channels as NTA network and Channels TV this July.
The TVC was pulled off by Ovaltine brand owners sometime last year .Since then, there has been quite some promotional activity by rival brands. Nestle Milo opened the year on a strong promotional note, launching a multi-media ad campaign—TV, Radio, Outdoor- for the brand.Then, few months ago, Cadbury Nigeria launched a re-formulated and re-designed Bournvita, a popular chocolate beverage brand. Ovaltine, Nestle Milo and Bournvita are keen rivals for the position of market leader in the chocolate beverage market segment.
Ovaltine is considered a premium chocolate brand and despite its popularity and the loyalty of its drinkers, the brand has been dogged by several challenges in recent times. These include a change of ownership, lack-lustre marketing and lack of strong advertising and promotional support
